See the Evening/Weekend/Holiday Submission Procedure (below) for additional information Holiday Closings CVMDL Holiday Closings: New Year's Day Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Wednesday before Thanksgiving Day-closing at 2pm Thanksgiving Day Friday following Thanksgiving Christmas Eve, Closing at Noon Christmas Day Thursday following Christmas New Year's Eve, Closing at Noon Pathology Service Evening/Weekend/Holiday Delivery Procedure Animals for testing should be refrigerated or kept on ice, not frozen. Animals are accepted until 6:00pm Monday through Friday and from 1:00pm to 3:00pm on Saturday, Sunday, and most Holidays. Animals are not accepted on New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day, or Christmas Day. Please call (860) 208-1107, after hours, on weekends, or on holidays to alert staff to your submission needs. Presence of CVMDL staff is required for submission. Submissions are not accepted outside of these times. NOTE: We now accept Mastercard, Visa, and Discover card payments. NOTE: The necropsy fee and after-hours surcharge of $40.00 are payable via check, money order, or credit card at the time of submission. CVMDL does not accept cash. You will then email or print and fax your completed order form to our office (click here) Public Service The diagnostic laboratory encompasses: Pathology Virology Bacteriology Serology Toxicology laboratory activities to arrive at a proper diagnosis or to test for blood antibody levels against diseases. Close cooperation exists with the State Department of Agriculture, where State mandated and Federal programs of disease control are concerned. The Diagnostic Testing Services Laboratory performs all State testing programs(Brucellosis, Salmonella Pullorum, Mycoplasma, Mastitis, Avian Influenza, Johne's Disease) as well as many other tests (equine infectious anemia, Salmonella, leptospirosis, Lyme disease, Rabies, etc.). Our poultry and mammalian extension veterinarians maintain daily contact with animal and poultry owners, veterinary practitioners, as well as State and Federal regulatory officials.
