The CVMDL performs testing for State mandated and Federal programs of disease control. The Diagnostic Testing Services Laboratory performs State testing programs (Brucellosis, Salmonella Pullorum, Mycoplasma, Mastitis, Avian Influenza, Pseudorabies) as well as many other tests (equine infectious anemia, Salmonella, leptospirosis, Lyme disease, Rabies). Our poultry and mammalian extension veterinarians maintain daily contact with animal and poultry owners, veterinary practitioners, as well as State and Federal regulatory officials. Read our 2020 Report AAVLD Accreditation CVMDL is a nationally recognized veterinary diagnostic laboratory located on the UConn Storrs campus. We are accredited by the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians – the only veterinary diagnostic laboratory in New England with this accreditation. This certifies our quality and competence through the rigorous Quality Management System. NAHLN Level 2 Lab The CVMDL is a Level 2 Laboratory of USDA National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN). NAHLN is a nationally coordinated network and partnership of federal, state, and university associated animal health laboratories. NAHLN laboratories provide animal health diagnostic testing, methods research and development, and expertise for education and extension to detect biological threats to the nation’s animal agriculture, thus protecting animal health, public health, and the nation’s food supply. VetLIRN The CVMDL is also a member of the Veterinary Laboratory Investigation and Response Network ( VetLIRN ) and the National Poulty Improvement Plan ( NPIP ) authorized lab.
